ABOUT // HAKKINDA

iKKi Duo is an experimental improvisation and comprovisation duo featuring cello, piano, everyday objects and electroacoustics.

Zeynep AyÅŸe HatipoÄŸlu (cello, objects & electronics) and Fulya Uçanok (piano, objects & electronics) are composer-performers and artist-researchers whose practices are rooted in diverse musical traditions and experimental sonic explorations. Both artists began their formal training in conservatories, with HatipoÄŸlu specializing in Turkish Classical Music and Uçanok in Eurogenetic classical music. Their individual paths have since expanded to encompass a wide range of sonic landscapes—HatipoÄŸlu integrating Eurogenetic classical music with Turkish music, and Uçanok delving into Balinese gamelan and Electroacoustics.

 

As soloists and collaborators, they have released instrumental and electroacoustic works. The duo’s collaborative journey began in 2016 during the OneBeat artist residency in Istanbul. Their interdisciplinary projects often intersect with dance, collaborating with collectives and choreographers, including their album Wandering Rocks. Both Zeynep AyÅŸe HatipoÄŸlu and Fulya Uçanok completed their Ph.D. degrees in the field of artistic research on improvisatory and composition-based practices during the summer of 2022. iKKi Duo is also have been members of the collective Klank.ist ensemble, composing, performing and releasing works.

iKKi Duo has cultivated a shared practice of co-authored, interdisciplinary artistic expression, consistently interested in pushing the boundaries of composition and performance within their musicking practice through playful experimentation.
