WANDERING ROCKS
This album is based on the metaphor of wandering rocks. We collaborated to create a texture-based work that explores movement within stillness, focusing on slowly unfolding soundscapes through extended durations and timbral changes.
The duration of the composition spans 30 minutes and is divided into six sections, with each section comprising approximately five minutes. The composition process explores the theme of “co-existing” through a co-authored back-and-forth response process. Each 5-minute section is composed by one of us (except for the fifth section, composed together). Through this process, we engage in deep listening to each other's musical ideas, remain receptive to creating sonic fields inspired by one another's sonic approaches, and embrace unexpected elements.
This work was originally composed for a dance performance titled “Sunset Melodrama” choreographed by by Melih Kıraç. It was commissioned by the ULYSSES European Odyssey (UEO) 2022-2024 project. Wandering Rocks piece is an extended and acousmatic version of the project.

NINE STAGES OF NOT ARRIVING
This album is a comprovisation project with cello, objects, piano and electronics. The duo uses contemporary playing techniques with objects, and explores various sound-fields of timbre, texture, gesture, rhythm, sound, silence, pitch and noise.
The album comprises nine miniatures, making a playful allusion to the suite form. Instead of setting up to arrive at places, the miniatures explore sounds ‘in moments’. Each moment is a situation, where the duo responds with and through their bodies and the relation-scape they inhabit. The title of the pieces give clues to the sound acts and gestures that are being realized. The form playfully invites listeners to listen to the miniatures as individual singular pieces, as well as entangled with others, as a unified whole.

iKKi Duo explores the concept of "sonic bonding" (McNeill, 1995; Turino, 2008) from an experimental and playful perspective in a free improvisation-sound-movement-play continuum.
